Our prior Beyond The Norm (February 9, 2018) was about color-blindness-correcting-glasses. For humans. Well, to keep with (sort of) a theme, I came across an article in The Atlantic on the Internet and it really grabbed my attention! Actually, it was the picture that first grabbed my attention – a praying mantis wearing what looked like sunglasses! In reality, they are 3-D glasses, colored for the purposes of the experiment being done on the bugs! It was all for science and no praying mantis was harmed too much in the doing of the experiment, so today, when we go Beyond The Norm, just WHY did scientists outfit praying mantises with cool-looking shades?
