It’s All One Big Fight Now

When commerce and politics merge, with the culture wars being fought through boycotts and purchases, (e.g., Mike Pence, Indiana, other Republican states and ‘religious objections’ to gays, and the commercial backlashes they caused) we are in a place where we should at least acknowledge this is happening. Using our spending (and withholding of spending) to send political messages and accomplish political goals – like rewarding our friends and punishing our enemies? Is this wise? Shouldn’t we ponder the implications of all this? And change course if this is unwise? The end of civility and the notion of one nation? Instead, just groups of distrustful, distant combatants, attacking and defending each other as the moments provide?
