Many people know the Rose Bowl as a football game on New Year’s Day in Pasadena, California. But, many people also know that New Year’s Day brings the lavish Rose Parade, in Pasadena, before the football game, and there is a Queen of the Rose Parade, who presides over much, including that football game! Begun in 1890, the Rose Parade has changed a lot – as have the women who became Queen. This year, especially, brought the issue to mind, with this year’s chosen Rose Queen! She wears glasses, is bisexual and Jewish, and yes, she’s this year’s Rose Queen!
