It’s common knowledge by now that we discard millions of pounds of plastics each year just in the U.S. alone. Much of this plastic is not recycled and ends up in the oceans. Indeed, there are five giant garbage patches swirling in oceans worldwide – the Pacific Ocean has perhaps the most famous one (infamous?) but we are in deep plastic trouble! Now there is hope: Science has found and improved an enzyme that eats plastic! It can be easily made and produced in powdered form, and has two very big possibilities with plastic, so today, when we go Beyond The Norm, how will we deal with our enormous plastic trash piles?
