If we stop, focus and think for a second, it makes perfect sense: Where else would a homeless person go, but to a public library, when they can? In places where it’s cold in wintertime, or hot in summer, the library is open to the public; to get out of the weather, to use the bathroom, to sleep in a quiet environment. For many homeless people, the library is an important place. For the libraries, of course, this presents many issues. Are libraries equipped or designed to be homeless service centers? Maybe that’s what they are becoming, at least in part, and we’ll explore this sad but important issue today, when we go Beyond The Norm.
