If he doesn’t resign, he can cite numerous Republicans who haven’t resigned – Mitch McConnell (pictured, in a photo circulating widely, with a Confederate flag and smiling), Congressman Steve King of Iowa, and Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith of Mississippi – among them. So, is it #OneStandardAppliedToAll and if so, how to compel all to obey that standard? And, if the Governor refuses to resign today, how effective will he be tomorrow? And the next day and week? How long can he stay if he refuses to go today? While justice demands that he resign, I am deeply troubled by the double standards in effect here and, like, forever. Deeply troubled. These double standards are very bad. Very bad.
